President & CEO
Andrés R. Gluski was named President and CEO of AES in September 2011. He possesses deep experience in the global electricity business, and is recognized as an industry thought leader on international finance and infrastructure issues. With more than 20 years' experience, he has led the turnaround of some of the AES's most significant operating businesses and spearheaded major capital market transactions. Under Andrés' leadership as COO, and later CEO, AES was the first company to be recognized with four Edison Electric Institute awards within a seven-year time span. These awards were granted for innovation and contribution to the advancement of the electric industry in Cameroon, Chile, Philippines and Latin America. Mr. Gluski was named International CEO of the Year by Latin Trade Magazine in 2012. In September 2013, he was appointed by President Obama as a member of the President's Export Council.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Gluski served as AES Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer from 2007 to 2011 and before that was Regional President for Latin America. Mr. Gluski has also held positions in banking, telecommunications, the public sector and multilateral agencies. He worked at the International Monetary Fund and served as Director General of Public Finance for Venezuela's Ministry of Finance. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of AES, the Council of the Americas, the US Spain Council, and the Edison Electric Institute. He is currently Chairman of AES Gener and AES Brasiliana. Mr. Gluski is a graduate of Wake Forest University and holds an MA and PhD in Economics from the University of Virginia.
