The Strategic 100 Projects List is finally here! This year’s list is comprised of Fourth Industrial Revolution projects with a total enterprise value of more than $220 billion that will be transformative when built.
The 2021 list highlights projects that will go forward in the next 3-12 months and will drive growth, decarbonize the environment and create jobs and social benefits for millions of people. Twenty-six projects drive the energy transition with a combined value of more than $27 billion, including electricity transmission, renewables, base-load power, and hydrogen. The fifty-six transportation projects, including both human and freight transportation, total $183 billion, leading the way in creating digital platforms around the country. Water - the invisible infrastructure - is represented by 11 projects requiring $9.7 billion in investment. Most of the investment in autonomy, 5G, AI, and Machine learning is in the transportation sector, but 7 pure connectivity projects on the list require an investment of $2.6 billion.
The list is based on data CG/LA has aggregated in its Global Infrastructure Visualization Platform (GViP), which includes quantitative metrics including jobs created, project bankability, and data generation and monetization, as well as qualitative data such as sector, location, strategic and economic value, equity and local benefit, environmental benefits, sustainability and business generation.
